it’s time for our May LI Sounds blog post!

Hey folks, the month of May is looking mighty lively! A lot of bands and venues are moving ahead towards reviving the LI Live Music Scene! The venues and the musicians will need your support to make this happen.

At the end of this month’s column is a new feature called LOCAL MUSIC JUKEBOX that provides links to music releases by various local LI artists. This month we shine the spotlight on Jack Licitra, Finn & His Rustkickers, Dave Diamond, The Hideaways, The Other Shoe, Mary Lamont, Johnny Mac, Rorie Kelly, Danny Kean and the Biscuit Kings. Please support the artists who create original music in Long Island!

Their sound reflects the voicings and arrangements of the genre's pioneers, The Byrds, Peter, Paul & Mary, Joni Mitchell, and Crosby, Stills & Nash, brought into today with an acoustic-electric alchemy all their own.

No less an authority than WFUV's John Platt has written that they are "among the finest performers in the New York metropolitan area, whatever the size of the venue, from a house concert to an outdoor festival," with "harmonies that can charm the birds out of the trees, strong original songs, and a savvy repertoire of cover songs, ranging from traditional folk to classic rock. The concert will take place in Landmark's Main Street parking lot. Seating Pods of 2-4 persons will be marked out. A limited number of Reserved pods will be available for a slight additional charge. All other seating pods will be on a first come, first served basis.

In the event of inclement weather, performances will be moved indoors to the Jeanne Rimsky Theater.
